On the first day of the Lunar New Year, Friday 12th February 2021, our BWM Arts and Culture Department wished our audience a great start to the Lunar New Year through the broadcasting of our 1st issue of the Rise & Be Triumphant - Lunar New Year Series.

The two emcees, both veterans from previous Rise and Be Triumphant shows, WeiLin and Angeline started off by wishing our audiences:

Before the performances started, we had well wishes from the BW Monastery Management Committee too.

Following that we enjoyed these performances:

The first performance is by the Insightful Praise Class One with “Encouraging Learning” , urging us to start the new year with the motivation to learn which in turn will lead us to having better lives.

The second performance is by our Auspicious Joyous Choir and Buddhist Hymns Class with a creative take on the song “Gong Xi Gong XI”. The highlight of their song has the improvised lyrics sending well wishes from Amitabha!!

The third performance is by our Auspicious Xin Pin Chinese Orchestra with the instrumental piece of “Mandala Offering” as we offer to the Triple Gem our sincere songs of praise and efforts in Dharma propagation on the first day of the Niu Year.

Other than the above performances, highlights of the performing groups’ past events from 2019 were also showcased. We hope that we will get to see these wonderful groups perform live and in person very soon! This reminds us to treasure every moment we have to practice and learn together as a virtuous community.

Last but not the least, we enjoyed an introduction into our Arts & Culture Department. We are happy to announce that as of this year the Youth Wing of our ANC Department has grown to be our Monastery’s Youth Department, a group for the youth run by the youth! Mega rejoice!
